The educational establishment – who has been working with the organisation since September 2023 – dropped off 15 bags of clothes to an enterprise who support people in need.

Last year, the college group donated food parcels.

This year around 30 students and staff came together to collect items of clothing that will be handed on to the homeless.

Cherese Bradnum is a curriculum co-ordinator for foundation learning.

Cherese said: “This is the second year we have supported The Bus Shelter. The students learn valuable lessons by helping out in this way.

“I have a soft spot for the organisation. They do so much great work in the community. There is a stigma about using foodbanks and organisations like this – but there shouldn’t be. I was a single mum and I relied on a food bank. It was a lifeline – and the work that The Bus Shelter does in supporting local people is incredible. We are so proud to help them out.”

Gareth Brenland created The Bus Shelter eight years ago. He said: “We are so grateful to Suffolk New College for supporting us. It’s inspiring.

“We rely on donations from local businesses and individuals. The more help we get means the more help we can give.”
